Development Director (Half-time consultant)

Position Overview

Reports to: Interim Executive Director


Jasper Ridge Farm is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Development Director to join the team as a half-time consultant. The Development Director will lead fundraising eLorts, with a special focus on individual and major donor cultivation, grant writing, and event planning. This role will also involve working closely with board members to activate their personal networks in support of the farm's mission. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in fundraising, event coordination, and grant writing, along with experience working in partnership with boards. 

Key responsibilities:

Donor Cultivation & Fundraising

  • Implement strategies already defined to grow the individual and major donor base, ensuring long-term engagement and increased giving
  • Manage relationships with key donors, creating personalized stewardship plans
  • Conduct donor research to identify new fundraising prospects

Grant Writing & Foundation Relations

  • Assist with applying for grants from local foundations that align with Jasper Ridge Farm’s mission and goals. community and government financial partnerships
  • Assist with writing compelling grant proposals and manage the reporting and follow- up process to ensure compliance with funding requirements

Event Planning and Management

  • Participate in planning and executing fundraising events, including annual fundraiser, donor receptions and community outreach events
  • Coordinate with staZ and volunteers to ensure smooth operations and successful fundraising outcomes for all events

Board Engagement

  • Collaborate with board members to leverage their personal and professional networks for fundraising efforts
  • Provide support and guidance to board members with donor engagement and cultivation strategies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in individual and major donor fundraising
  • Demonstrated experience writing successful grant proposals and securing funding from local foundations
  • Proven ability to plan and execute large-scale fundraising events
  • Experience working with nonprofit boards to develop and execute fundraising strategies
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in fundraising software and CRM tools is a plus
  • Must live within 45 miles of Jasper Ridge Farm

Compensation

This is a part-time consultant position, with compensation based on experience and the scope of the work agreed upon.
